Sydney’s fashion scene was transformed into a dazzling celebration of Punjabi heritage and regal elegance at the Lakme Australia Fashion Show 2025, held at the iconic Linseed – The Grounds of Alexandria.
This spectacular event brought the grandeur of Punjabi royalty to Australian runways, showcasing a collection that masterfully blended traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
The show featured a lineup of celebrated Indian designers known for their expertise in luxury and heritage fashion.
Royal Punjabi Collection
Among the standout participants was Sukhjit Kaur, whose label Intrendz Fashion presented the breathtaking Royal Punjab collection on Sunday, June 22, 2025, .
Their creations featured flowing sherwanis, intricately embroidered anarkalis, and opulent fabrics adorned with gold threadwork and zardozi embroidery, evoking the majestic courts of Punjab.
Models graced the runway in jewel-toned ensembles that shimmered with handcrafted embellishments, embodying the spirit of Punjabi royalty. The collection was a vivid storytelling experience, transporting audiences to the palaces and festivals of Punjab through fabric, silhouette, and detail. The fusion of timeless tradition with modern tailoring resonated deeply with both South Asian and Australian fashion enthusiasts.
Punjabi Royalty At Met Gala 2025

This celebration of Punjabi and Indian royalty is not long after the showing at Met Gala this year when Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh made a stunning debut at the Met Gala 2025 in New York City in early May.
Dosanjh’s look, designed by Prabal Gurung, was a powerful homage to his Punjabi heritage and Maharaja legacy. He wore a custom white Sikh royal ensemble complete with a jewel-studded turban, a lion-headed kirpan (ceremonial sword), and a multi-layered necklace inspired by the iconic Patiala Necklace, originally created by Cartier for Maharaja Bhupinder Singh.
His cape featured embroidery of the Punjabi script Gurmukhi and a map of Punjab, blending cultural symbolism with regal elegance. This look was widely praised for its authenticity and grandeur, making a bold cultural statement on one of fashion’s biggest global stages.
The Lakme Australia Fashion Show 2025 and Diljit Dosanjh’s Met Gala appearance together highlight how Punjabi royal aesthetics are inspiring contemporary fashion worldwide. Both events celebrate the richness of Punjabi culture while pushing the boundaries of modern design.
The Lakme Australia Fashion Show was more than just a fashion event—it was a celebration of multiculturalism and artistic collaboration, highlighting the growing influence of South Asian designers in Australia’s creative industries. It offered South Asian Australians a proud moment of representation, proving that Punjabi royalty’s influence is as vibrant and relevant today as ever.
For those who missed the live event, highlights and behind-the-scenes moments are available on Lakme Australia’s Instagram channel, where the Royal Punjab collection continues to captivate audiences with its regal allure.
