Eight days after she went missing from Sydney’s west, 18-year-old economics student Aanisha Sathik has been found.

NSW police said that Aanisha was “found safe” on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Aanisha was last seen leaving her home on Park Road, Auburn, around 1 pm on Monday, June 23, 2025. Her parents approached the police on Tuesday after she failed to return home. Officers attached to the Auburn Police Area Command started their inquiries.

“Following inquiries, she was located today at about 2 pm in Berala,” NSW police said in a statement. Aanisha was taken to the hospital for assessment, police added.

CCTV TV Helps Police Inquiries

Aanisha’s parents, Fatima and Sadiq Sathik, had issued an appeal after she went missing. According to her parents, Aanisha, who was studying a double degree in economics, was hospitalised a year ago.

Police tracked Aanisha's movements on CCTV in the hours after she went missing in broad daylight. CCTV captured her walking along Harrow Road, in Norman Park, walking along Mount Auburn Road and on Woodburn Road. Aaanisha had not taken her phone or any money with her.

Aanisha’s father told a press conference that she had been “dealing with some anxiety and depression and had gradually withdrawn from her circle of friends. She doesn’t have anyone she regularly goes out with.”
