Bharat Sundaresan, the Indian-born cricket writer and commentator, has officially become an Australian citizen.
The citizenship ceremony took place in Mount Barker, located in the Adelaide Hills, where he resides with his wife Isha. Sundaresan, grew up in Mumbai and spent a decade in cricket journalism. He moved to Australia in December 2018, following his wife's relocation for work.
Sundaresan has embraced the cross-cultural blend of his experiences in both India and Australia. He has also used his platform to raise awareness about racism in Australia, drawing from personal experiences to advocate for change. "Australia, thank you but I’m your problem now. I’ve felt like an Australian since the day I landed here but so grateful that you have officially accepted me as one," Sundaresan posted on his social media after the citizenship ceremony on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
